Man arrested over Clifton 'robbery'

A MAN has been arrested after a pensioner was allegedly tied up and robbed in her own home.

The 49-year-old suspect, who has not been named, was arrested on Wednesday for conspiracy to rob over the alleged incident in Spring Walk, Clifton, on Tuesday.

Police said the 70-year-old woman had been led around the house by a man who demanded jewellery, which he stuffed into a pillow case before fleeing.

They are still appealing for information about the incident, which happened at about 4.40pm.

It is said to have involved a man who was wearing dark clothing and had his face covered.

Anyone with information should contact police on 101 quoting incident number 810 of September 5.
