Man arrested after woman stabbed to death

The 55-year-old Eastwood man is in police custody after the body of Julie Ann Gallagher (41), was found in her home on Foljambe Road, Eastwood, on Saturday afternoon.

She had been stabbed in the chest.

Detectives investigating her death said she had not been seen since about 1.15am last Thursday, when she left her local pub to go home.

She had been in the Cranworth Pub on Fitzwilliam Street and left alone.

Police said there was no sign of forced entry into the dead woman's home.

The property was sealed off and kept under police guard following the discovery of the body and forensi c experts carried out an examination.

Detectives have spoken to neighbours and want to hear from anyone who saw Julie after she left the pub or who noticed any visitors at her house.
