Man arrested after Rotherham thefts

A MAN has been arrested in connection with a series of thefts and vehicle interference incidents in Wickersley and Bramley.

A man was captured on CCTV trying door handles of cars parked along Melhaven Way at around 3am on Tuesday, police said.

An iPad is said to have been taken, as well as numerous confectionery items,she added.

"In the early hours of this morning, police received another report of a man breaking into a car parked on Palm Hollow Close," she added. 

"A description of the offender was circulated to officers, which led to a 39-year-old man being detained close-by. He was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and remains in police custody at this time."  

Sgt Dan Guest said: "Unfortunately, burglaries and thefts do tend to spike this time of year, so please be vigilant - ensure vehicles are locked, no valuables are left on show and car keys are safely stored.

“If you spot anything suspicious, or have CCTV or dashcam footage of any suspicious activity in your area, please report it to us. We review all the information and it helps us to piece together patterns of offending and identify potential suspects.”
