Man and child hurt in bus smash

A 32-year-old man and seven year-old girl were taken to hospital after a collision involving a car and a bus.

A 32 year-old man and seven year-old girl were taken to hospital following a collision involving a car and a bus.

Firefighters had to cut the pair free from a silver Vauxhall Corsa hatchback after the incident at around 7.30pm on Sunday.

A crew from Rotherham Station’s Technical Rescue Unit attended the scene of the collision on Town Lane, Greasbrough.

Once freed from the car, the Vauxhall’s 32-year-old driver was taken to Rotherham General Hospital with serious pelvic, face and leg injuries.

The seven-year-old girl sustained a slight back injury and was taken to hospital but not detained.                        

A 79 year-old man, one of five passengers on the single-decker bus, suffered a minor leg injury.
