Man airlifted to hospital after quad bike incident

A MAN was airlifted to hospital on Saturday afternoon after he sustained serious injuries whilst riding a quad bike in Maltby.

Whilst officers were in attendance, there were numerous other off-road bikes riding around, a spokesperson from the Rotherham South Neighbourhood Policing Team.

"Some of these bikes were being ridden dangerously and some riders had next to no safety gear on including no helmets," added the spokesperson.

"Maltby Pit Top remains an unsafe area for people to use off road vehicles. It is also private land and no-one has permission to use the land for those purposes.

"Whilst we appreciate that off road biking is a hobby enjoyed by many, there are registered tracks in the local area and we would encourage bikers to make use of these locations rather than areas that put the rider at risk of injury."
