Man admits stabbing Rotherham boxer

A MAN has admitted stabbing a Rotherham boxer in the neck.

Matthew Liversidge (32), of Town Lane, Wingfield, entered guilty pleas to causing grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of a bladed article, namely a folding pocket knife, in public.

Liversidge stabbed 30-year-old Chad Gaynor (pictured, above) on Churchill Avenue, Maltby, just after 11pm on May 9.

Liversidge was arrested shortly afterwards and has been remanded in custody since.

He appeared at Sheffield Crown Court yesterday via prison videolink.

A date for his sentencing is yet to be fixed.
