Man (32) due to appear at court in connection with Maltby stabbing

A MAN (32) is due to appear at court today (Tuesday) in connection with a stabbing in Maltby which left a man in hospital.

Matthew Liversidge, of Town Lane, Rotherham, is charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of a bladed article and is due to appear at Sheffield Magistrates' Court.

Police arrested Liversidge on Sunday shortly after 11am when emergency services were called to reports that a man (30) was seriously injured on Churchill Avenue, Maltby, a police spokeswoman said.

He had suffered a knife wound to his neck and remains in hospital after having surgery, added the spokeswoman.

Police charged Liversidge in the early hours of this morning and he remains in police custody.
