Man (30) charged with attempted kidnap following Herringthorpe incidents

Shamaz Ali, of Clough Road, Rotherham, appeared at Sheffield Magistrates' Court on Saturday accused of six offences of attempted kidnap.

Police said the offences related to multiple reports of concern received by members of the public in Herringthorpe last Thursday.

Ali was also charged with assault with intent to resist lawful apprehension, criminal damage and driving over the prescribed limit, police said.

He was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Sheffield Crown Court on Friday, October 23.
