Man (30) admits six attempted kidnappings on same day in Herringthorpe

Shamaz Ali appeared at Sheffield Crown Court on Tuesday and pleaded guilty to eight offences on what would have been the first day of his trial.

Ali (30), of Clough Road, Rotherham, admitted six counts of attempted kidnap, one of assault with intent to resist lawful apprehension and one of drink driving.

He committed the offences on September 24 last year, when Ali was said to have approached school pupils and other people in his car.

A pre-sentence report was ordered and Ali was remanded in custody.

He is due to be sentenced at the same court on April 19.
