Man (28) arrested for GBH after "attack" on PC

A 28-YEAR-old man has been arrested after a police officer was seriously injured while responding to a disturbance in Thrybergh.

A 28-YEAR-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm after a police officer was seriously injured while responding to a disturbance in Thrybergh.

Police were called to Pingles Crescent at 8.25pm on Wednesday.

An officer had detained a man when he then assaulted the officer, a police spokeswoman said.

"The 28-year-old man then fled the scene on foot towards South Vale Drive," she added.

"He was pursued by police and was arrested a short time later on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm."

Enquiries into the incident are ongoing, the spokeswoman said.
