Maltby man in court over New Year's Day assault

Mellwyn Gannon, of Lee Croft, Maltby, appeared before magistrates in Sheffield last Wednesday (9), charged with assault.

He was bailed to appear at Sheffield Crown Court on February 6.

The charge relates to an incident at Lee Croft in which a 48-year-old man was seriously injured. He was taken to hospital at 1am with internal injuries, fractured ribs and bruising to his face.

A police spokeswoman said: “An investigation remains ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact 101 quoting incident 120 of January 1.”
