Maltby Leisure Centre is country’s number one

MALTBY Leisure Centre has been named ‘Leisure Centre of the Year’ in the prestigious UK Active Flame fitness industry awards.

The awards ceremony took place at Telford International Centre and recognises and applauds excellence and best practice within the health and fitness industry. The submissions were evaluated by a team of experienced, independent assessors.

To win the award, Maltby Leisure Centre – a Rotherham Council facility - beat off fierce competition from hundreds of centres from around the country.

Alex Greaves, general manager at Maltby Leisure Centre, said: “To have won the overall accolade of Leisure Centre of Year is a great achievement for everyone at Maltby Leisure Centre and demonstrates the commitment of our staff at the centre to our customers and the delivery of an excellent activity service and experience they provide every day.

“To be acclaimed to be the best in your industry is a great testament for any organisation. We would like to thank all of our customers for voting for us.”

Places for People Leisure, who operate Maltby Leisure Centre, were also crowned winners on the night, picking up the Leisure Operator of the Year Award for the third year running.Rotherham Council’s advisory cabinet member for adult social care and health Cllr David Roche said: “This is fantastic news for Maltby Leisure Centre and for Places for People. We are very proud of our leisure facilities in Rotherham and this family facility offers a gym, pools, diving boards, classes, swimming lessons and much more. The award is apt recognition for the staff who work hard all year round to bring the best services to the people of Rotherham.”
