M1 terror suspects due in court

THREE men have been charged with terrorism offences after being stopped on the M1 near Rotherham.

Seven men were initially detained on suspicion of terrorist activity after police found weapons in a car which was pulled over by police between the Canklow and Meadowhall—junctions 33 and 34—on June 30.

A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said that the arrests had resulted from a “routine stop,” but added: “Firearms, offensive weapons and other material were later found hidden inside, prompting police to take action to trace and arrest the driver, passenger and others suspected of being involved.”
