M1 motorway closed near Aston after accident
THE closure of the M1 motorway is causing lengthy delays for motorists this morning (Thursday).
The southbound carriageway is closed between junction 31 for Aston and junction 30 for Barlborough following an accident.
There are delays on routes through Aston, Aughton and Whiston as commuters seek alternative routes.
A fire service spokeswoman said two lorries and a small vehicle were involved in the collision.
Crews from Maltby and Aston attended and spent around 45 minutes at the scene.
