M1 closed after car fire

THE MOTORWAY through South Yorkshire was closed this lunchtime due to a car fire.

Highways England said it had closed the southbound M1 between junctions 33 and 34 after the incident at about 12.40pm.

One lane was still closed at 1pm but the motorway reopened at about 1.10pm.
