M1 car blaze causes traffic tailback

A CAR blaze on the M1 southbound caused traffic disruption yesterday evening (Wednesday).

The blaze happened between junctions 33 at Catcliffe and junction 32 at Aston at around 7.30pm.

Firefighters spent half an hour bringing the blaze under control and a South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue spokeswoman said an engine fault in the Citroen Berlingo was the fault.

Two lanes were closed while the crew dealt with the incident leading to half a mile of tailbacks.

No-one was injured, she added.
