The white HGV tractor was stolen in Matlock last Tuesday and abandoned in Bramley, where several suspects fled from it.

But they were tracked by a police helicopter and dog unit, before being arrested and detained.

A police spokesman posted on the force’s Operations Support Facebook page: “The team were busy last night in the county.

“This incident involved a HGV tractor unit stolen from Matlock and driven into the Bramley area of Rotherham.

“It decided to try and evade officers by ramming through a farm hedgerow and driving through the wheat crop.”

The Advertiser has contacted South Yorkshire Police for more information about the incident.
