The departure of loan winger Jake Hastie and a new injury setback for defender Clark Robertson are forcing manager Paul Warne into the market.

The boss intends to reinforce his promotion-chasing squad with a left winger and a centre-half.

Hastie has returned to Glasgow Rangers after his loan spell at AESSEAL New York Stadium was cut short while there are fears that Robertson's season could be over because of a broken foot.

"I have got a couple of issues I need to address," said Warne after Tuesday's 1-0 home win over Ipswich Town sent his side top of the table.

"I have definitely got another slot for a left-footed winger. Haks (Hakeeb Adelakun) has been doing well for me but if anything happens to him or Chieo (Ogbene) I would need another body.

"Trevor (Clarke) and Julian (Lamy) are capable but can they play the next 16 games for 90 minutes a game? Probably not. I need a recognised winger. We have put in loan bids for two players."

Unlucky Robertson was due back in action in just over a fortnight but hurt his foot while running during his recovery from stomach surgery.

"The other bid of business I might have to do is at the back," Warne said.

"Regrettably Clark has broken his foot. He is walking around in a protective boot. I am going to need a left-sided centre-half.

"He had a broken metatarsal a while back and he didn't have a pin put in it. I had the same injury when I was a player. I had a pin in it and I was out for two extra weeks.

"The advice for Robbo was to let his body naturally repair but then you are susceptible to it happening again.

Robertson has had two scans to determine the extent of the damage and Warne added:  "If he is out for the season then it is something we are going to have to act on."

Striker Jerry Yates wasn't in the squad for the Ipswich game and may head back to League Two Swindon Town on loan following his recall by the Millers a week ago.

He played for Rotherham at Peterborough United on Saturday, meaning he can't appear for any side this season other than the Millers or Robins because league rules prohibit a player turning out for more than two teams in a single campaign.

"Swindon have signed two strikers so it might not be something they want to do now," Warne said. "If that is the case he is staying here.

"We have had loads of interest for him from League One clubs but he came on at the weekend so there is nothing he can do now.

"I will have a chat with him."
