From teaching knitting, family history, crafts, IT skills and reading, all residents willing to give their time will be welcomed at Rotherham’s libraries, according to Rotherham Borough Council.

Cabinet Member for cleaner, greener communities, Cllr Sarah Allen, said: “We recognise the added value that volunteers bring by offering their time, skills, experience and commitment in order to extend and enhance the services that the libraries provide.

People can join in a wide range of fun and exciting events which volunteers can help with such as knitting groups, crafting fun, family history, IT support, Summer Reading Challenge and holiday activities.

“It is a unique opportunity to share your hobbies and experiences.”

Rotherham Libraries have volunteering opportunities available at the following locations: Aston, Brinsworth, Dinnington, Greasbrough, Kimberworth, Kiveton Park, Maltby, Mowbray Gardens, Rawmarsh, Riverside, Swinton, Thorpe Hesley, Thurcroft, Wath and Wickersley.

These volunteering roles will help people visiting the library and assist library staff in delivering family activities and schemes in a pleasant and friendly environment.
