Last chance to register to vote in general election
Voters will go to the polls on Thursday, June 8

TODAY is the last chance to register to vote in the general election on June 8.

The deadline is 11.59pm tonight (Monday) for the polls deciding MPs for Rotherham, Rother Valley and Wentworth and Dearne.

Anyone not registered to vote at their current address can visit www.gov.uk/registertovote.

Sharon Kemp, Rotherham Borough Council’s acting returning officer, said: “This election is an opportunity to have your say on who will represent the people of Rotherham at a national level, so it’s important that people make sure they are eligible to vote on the day.”

Anyone unable to vote in person can apply for a postal or proxy vote. Applications to vote by post must be made by 5pm on Tuesday (23).

Applications for proxy voting, where someone else can cast your vote for you, must be made by 5pm next Wednesday (31).

The Advertiser has invited all candidates in the borough to write mini manifestos. You can view the ones we have received here.
