Last chance to nominate Rotherham's healthcare heroes

TIME is running out to nominate your healthcare heroes.

Patients, carers, families and workmates are being encouraged to put forward exceptional health care workers for an award celebrating the pride of the town’s NHS staff.

The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust’s 2016 PROUD Awards will be handed out on November 11 at the Carlton Park Hotel.

One of the prizes will be the Public Recognition Award, which is not picked by judges but named from nominations made by the public and hospital staff themselves.

The award - backed by the Advertiser - is designed to champion NHS staff who carry out their roles with dedication, professionalism and compassion.

The closing date for nominations is Friday, September 30.

Members of the public can nominate any NHS employees working at Rotherham Hospital, at Rotherham Community Health Centre, BreathingSpace, health centres and even people’s own homes.

Louise Barnett, the trust’s chief executive, said the award was “one of the most exciting” as nominees came from the public.

More than 300 people were nominated last year and Ms Barnett said those picked out for praise were very grateful.
