Knives and axe seized in crime crackdown

POLICE seized weapons, including knives and an axe, during raids under a crime crackdown last week.

Officers conducted Operation Alligator at locations around the borough.

Two people were arrested for immigration offences in the Moorgate area on Thursday, while a drugs warrant was executed on Nelson Street, Clifton.

Officers seized four knives and an axe at another raid in Canklow, along with a paintball gun.

On Friday, two men in their twenties were arrested in the town centre, on charges of failing to appear at court in relation to theft.
