Knifepoint robbery OAP reunited with wedding ring

A PENSIONER robbed at knifepoint has been reunited with his treasured wedding ring.

The 74-year-old man had never been apart from the ring in 43 years of marriage.

It was taken — along with cash — during a robbery on Mexborough’s High Street at 10.20pm on April 29.

It is believed the man was taken to a cashpoint on Main Street, where he was forced to withdraw money.

The ring was recovered from a pawn shop and a 28-year-old man arrested on suspicion of robbery has been released under investigation.

Ben Lackenby (22) and Kelly Hoult (32), both of Cedar Avenue, were charged with handling stolen goods on Thursday.

They have also been charged in relation to a May 5 robbery in which a 45-year-old woman withdrew £120 from a cash machine and had her nose broken on Wath Road at about 3am.

Lackenby and Hoult appeared before magistrates in Doncaster on Friday and were bailed until their next date at court.
