Kerry-Louise lifts world crown

KICKBOXING’S golden girl Kerry-Louise Norbury has landed another world title—despite suffering a head gash which halted her sell-out bout against top Italian Annalisa Bucci.

Kerry-Louise landed the WFKKO K1 rules crown, the latest of a string of world-level successes, at the Lamplight Theatre in Stanley, County Durham.

It came despite a nasty cut following a clash of heads in the fourth round.

The on-duty doctor took time to examine the wound and made the decision to call a halt with the majority of the crowd unsure of how itwould affect the outcome of the title fight.

But the world governing body rules state that fights will be judged on points once they have passed the second round—and with Kerry-Louise streets ahead on the scorecard she was given an unanimous verdict.

She said aftewards: “It was a hard fight, but I worked hard to show the fans what I had."
