Jury retires to consider verdicts in John Methley murder trial

A JURY has retired to consider its verdicts in the trial over the death of Masbrough man John Methley.

Two men — Kyle Greenwood and Nafees Hussain, both 20 — are on trial at Sheffield Crown Court accused of killing 39-year-old Mr Methley near the Midland Hotel in Masbrough on February 4.

Mr Methley, of College Road, Rotherham, died six days after the attack, which may have been drug related.

The prosecution's case is that Greenwood and Hussain drove round the Masbrough area looking for Mr Methley and then attacked him with a golf club.

Hussain has admitted attacking Mr Methley but previously told the jury he did not mean to do him serious harm.

Adam Khan (20), of Norwood Road, Sheffield, who was driving Hussain on the day of the alleged attack, has denied one count of assisting an offender.

Greenwood, of Spa View Road, Sheffield, and Hussain, of no fixed abode, both deny murder.

Hana Riaz (20), of Spa View Road, Sheffield, who drove Kyle Greenwood on the day of the alleged attack, admitted assisting an offender at the beginning of the trial.
