Jury finds care home resident did sexually assault staff
Ackroyd Clinic in Moorgate

A CARE home resident sexually assaulted three members of staff, a jury has found.

Donald Crabtree (57) moved to Ackroyd Clinic in Moorgate from hospital and acted inappropriately towards female staff members in November 2019.

He went on trial at Sheffield Crown Court on Monday accused of four counts of sexual assault against three care home workers.

Judge Rachael Harrison told jurors that Crabtree was not fit to stand trial and therefore they could not return guilty verdicts.

Instead, they had to decide if he did or did not commit the offences.

Following the two-day hearing, the jury found that Crabtree, now of Heslington Road, York, did commit the sex assaults.

He will be sentenced at the same court on August 24.
