Judge warns Poppy Day flasher

 A MAN who sparked outrage on Remembrance Day by flashing from a window as the parade passed by has been warned he could face jail.

Ricky Lee Robey (20), of Morrell Street, Maltby, pleaded guilty to outraging public decency when he appeared at Rotherham Magistrates’ Court today.

District Judge Mr John Foster told him: "The behaviour was disgusting and it showed a marked and negligent disregard for what was a very emotional day.

"Prison is certainly something I will consider."

The court heard that members of the public, armed forces, and the Royal British Legion were left "disgusted" as the Remembrance Day parade made it’s way along Morrell Street on Remembrance Sunday.

Mr David Marshall, prosecuting, described how one witness said: "The curtains were down and you could clearly see him pull down his pants and expose his genitals. 

“He then grabbed hold of his penis and moved it around in a circular motion as the parade went by."

Defending, Mr Steve Smith said: "What he did was wrong, but it was in no way out of disrespect for the parade and for those who have lost their lives for this country. 

“My defendant was merely trying to get the attention of a friend and that was it. 

“It just so happened that the parade was going by, at which point he started to defect from what he was doing.”

Witnesses also claimed that a women came to the window and lifted her top, exposing her breasts.

 The 18-year old was interviewed by police and later released without charge.

Robey was given unconditional bail and the case was adjourned until  December 17 for sentencing.
