A GRADUATE has swapped the lecture theatre for the TV studio after landing a job in her dream career.

Becky Lancashire (21) bagged a role as trainee production journalist with ITV straight from completing a journalism degree at the University of Lincoln.

The former Wickersley School and Oakwood High School student — who met football legend Thierry Henry and presenters Jim White and Kirsty Gallacher while on work experience at Sky Sports News — is now heading off to St Helier in Jersey to begin her new career.

Becky auditioned for their annual ITV News Traineeship and narrowly missed out on a place but was offered an interview for a production journalist role after impressing the judging panel.

Becky, who described her journalism course as phenomenal, praised her supportive tutors and said university had taught her a vast range of life skills including team work, commitment, planning, organisation, time management and self-confidence.

Before her graduation ceremony, Becky was given the Professor John Tulloch award for Best Journalism Student by the School of English and Journalism.
