Jobs go as Poundworld in Rotherham is to close

FIFTEEN jobs are set to be lost as Poundworld’s Rotherham town centre store is set to be axed.

The beleaguered business is closing 105 stores nationwide, resulting in 1,024 job losses, in addition to the 25 marked for closure last week.

The Rotherham store is on Howard Street.

The Parkgate Shopping branch is not affected, according to a Poundworld spokeswoman.

The latest stores on the company’s hitlist will close between Friday, July 20, and Sunday, July 22.

Poundworld will keep 230 branches open.

Administrators Deloitte said the closures will not have an effect on the potential sale of the the business.
