Jesus and Mary Chain prepare for South Yorkshire date

INDIE band The Jesus and Mary Chain are touring their new album — and stopping off in South Yorkshire.

Scot rockers Jim and William Reid are back on the road 34 years after first forming the band.

Their seventh album Damage and Joy — their first since 1998 — was released back in March.

“The interesting thing about this record is what comes out of the speakers,” said Jim.

“To make a good record is an achievement if you’re 22, but to do it in your 50, the way we are, I think is a minor miracle.”

The Jesus and Mary Chain embarked upon a UK and Ireland tour to coincide with the album's release.

As these shows proved to be a success, the band added extra shows throughout September and October, including one at Sheffield’s Foundry venue next Monday, September 25.

The touring line-up is completed by Scott Von Ryper (guitar), Mark Crozer (bass) and Brian Young (drums).
