Jason on crusade to end stigma of mental illness: VIDEO

A REFORMED “bad boy” who survived drug addiction, mental problems and family turmoil before putting his life story into words, has made a film to help others.

Jason Tune made the film as part of his crusade to show that the stigma of mental illness is worse than the illness itself.

Jason (46), now a mental health worker himself and living in Wingfield, wrote about the stigma in his book—Stigma: Worse Than Psychosis, a sequel to his best-selling autobiography Sex, Drugs and Northern Soul.

The film for The Well Being Project, funded by Comic Relief, is part of a campaign to end mental health discrimination.

Jason is interviewed encouraging people to talk about their mental health problems.

He said: “The aim of the film is to promote awareness, and help reduce the ignorance and to go underneath my illness, being totally honest about how mental ill health can hold you back.”
