Jail for Rotherham sex attacker

A SEX attacker who subjected a woman to a “brutal” 20-minute assault in a deserted car park has been jailed for four-and-a-half years.

Anthony Jalam (28), formerly of Garbroads Crescent, Rotherham, was jailed at the Royal Court, Jersey, on Tuesday after pleading guilty to attacking the 22-year-old woman after a leaving a nightclub on the island in the early hours of March 23.

The court heard how Jalam — previously known as Anthony Hunt — had carried his victim to an area between a parked car and a wall and struck her three times in the head before forcing her to perform a sex act.

Crown Advocate William Redgrave said that Jalam “would not take no for an answer” from the woman who had met just a few hours earlier, adding: “She was effectively his prisoner for a 20-minute ordeal.”

Mr Redgrave described Jalam as an “impulsive and dangerous” person, who posed a threat of “serious sexual harm to young women”.

Alongside his prison sentence, Jalam was given an eight-year restraining order banning him from contacting his victim and a two-year exclusion order barring him from licensed premises.
