On the same day, Scholey also stole two artificial conifers in stainless steel pots in Filey, North Yorkshire, worth £350 which belonged to Maurice Garbutt.

Across two days in June this year, Scholey failed to carry out his unpaid work requirement, which had been imposed four months earlier after he stole a tumble dryer from TJ’s hair salon in December.

Two days after targeting the salon, Scholey then stole a woman’s mobility scooter worth £2,060.

He admitted the offences and was jailed for 16 weeks.

Scholey was also committed to Sheffield Crown Court where he will appear on Friday (23) to be sentenced for three counts of making off without paying for fuel, taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent, driving with no insurance and burglary.
