Jail for Christmas Day car thief

A CAR thief and dangerous driver who pinched a BMW on Christmas Day and assaulted the driver is beginning a jail sentence of more than three years.

Riley Reside (19), of Woodland Drive, North Anston, appeared before Sheffield Crown Court on Friday and admitted driving while disqualified, dangerous driving, driving without insurance, assault, theft of a motor vehicle and breaching a suspended sentence order.

The theft and assault charges related to an incident on Christmas Day last year when Reside stole the BMW from Sheffield.

He was charged with dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, dangerous driving and driving without insurance in Doncaster Road, Dalton, five days later.

Reside was sentenced to 38 months in jail, including a year each for the car theft, dangerous driving and assault offences and two months for driving while disqualified.
