JAGUAR'S unveiling of their all new XJ luxury saloon has taken place at a high-profile event packed with celebrities.

But the most striking attendee was the British marque's new flagship which hopes to follow in the footsteps of its critically acclaimed little brother, the multi-award winning XF, when it hits showrooms early next year.

Jaguar unveiled the XJ at the Saatchi Gallery, in Chelsea, last Thursday (9), at an event hosted by American chat show host and car nut, Jay Leno.

Ian Callum, design director at Jaguar, said: "It is the most emphatic statement yet of Jaguar's new design direction."

Jaguar claims that the use of 50 per cent recycled aluminium in its construction makes it 150kg lighter than its nearest rivals and its three-litre V6 diesel, five-litre naturally aspirated V8 and five-litre supercharged V8 will all be available in the new XJ.

Order books are now open with prices ranging from £52,500 to £88,000.
