Ipswich Town move for Rotherham United old boy Freddie Ladapo

The Millers chose not win activate a 12-month extension clause in the 29-year-old's contract following their promotion to the Championship at the end of April.

The centre-forward, who scored 41 goals in 123 appearances during three years at AESSEAL New York Stadium, is staying in League One after signing a three-year deal with the Tractor Boys.

He will officially become a Town player when his Rotherham contract expires at the end of June.

He said: “The chance to come and play for this club, with the history and fan base it has, is brilliant for me. I am buzzing."

The Millers’ record signing at £400,000 when he arrived from Plymouth Argyle, Ladapo played his part in two third-tier promotions and a Papa John's Trophy triumph.

However, he ended last season exiled from the first team - having submitted a transfer request in January - because boss Paul Warne was unhappy with his contribution.
