Investigation launched into cause of Rawmarsh flat fire

A MAN has been taken to hospital after a fire broke out in his flat in the early hours of this morning (Monday).

South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue (SYFR) was called to the first floor flat at 2.05am on Hague Avenue, Rawmarsh.

One man was inside when it occurred but was out of the property by the time crews from Rotherham, Tankersley and Edlington station arrived, a SYFR spokeswoman said.

The man was taken to hospital “as a precaution”, she added.

The cause of the blaze is still under investigation.
