Inspectors find plenty of ‘good’ at academy

Ofsted praised staff and leaders at Wath Central Primary School in their first inspection report since the school joined the James Montgomery Academy Trust. 

After speaking to teachers, parents and pupils, the education watchdog highlighted children’s pride in their school, its “nurturing atmosphere” and the sense that teachers cared about the kids in their classes.

The report added: “Leaders have a strong, shared vision to ensure that every child in the school is seen as unique.

“They strive to ensure that learning is tailored to develop pupils’ understanding of the local area, of the wider world and of themselves as citizens.

“Teachers have high expectations, and most pupils respond well to this.”

The school leadership was “passionate and enthusiastic” and the curriculum filled with “rich and challenging experiences”, Ofsted said

Examples highlighted included the robotics club trip to the USA and the school visit by the South Yorkshire Mounted Police.  

Ofsted did mark out some areas for improvement, noting that “there is still work to do”.
