Injury snag for Rotherham United winger Mickel Miller

MICKEL Miller may have to wait a little longer to make his Rotherham United return after completing a three-match ban.

The winger has now served the suspension imposed for his red card in the 2-0 derby triumph over Doncaster Rovers but has picked up a minor hamstring injury.

He is unlikely to be risked in Saturday’s League One home clash with Crewe Alexandra, although the all-clear to resume playing could come as soon as next Tuesday’s visit of Wimbledon.

Fellow winger Shane Ferguson has shrugged off his foot issue and should be back this weekend and the club are hoping Freddie Ladapo will return to training today after a foot complaint saw him miss last weekend’s trip to Bolton Wanderers.

“Mickel’s got a bit of a hammy problem,” manager Paul Warne said. “I don’t think he will be available for Saturday. The Wimbledon game isn’t out of the question. It’s a low-grade-one pull. It’s not going to be a massive issue. He trained hard last week and got a bit sore, then he trained on Monday and didn’t feel right.

“We scanned him as a precaution and he’s got a one-centimetre tear, which is very minor but could turn into something if he pushes himself. It makes more sense to get him right before he plays again.”

Northern Ireland international Ferguson hasn’t appeared for the Millers since the Sheffield Wednesday match on August 21

“Shane trained on Tuesday with the squad,” Warne said. “He’ll be available for consideration at the weekend unless he gets a setback.”

Ladapo was limping heavily last weekend but has improved quickly. He had an injection after tests revealed a pocket of fluid and allayed Warne’s initial fears that the player had broken his foot.

“He hasn’t trained with the group yet this week,” the manager said. “Maybe he will be included on Thursday.

“He did a little bit on the grass with the physio on Tuesday. If he has had no ill effects from that, he should be able to join in with the rest of the squad. I think he’ll in contention for the weekend.”
