Increased trust in South Yorkshire Police among two-thirds of public

TWO-thirds of the public have more confidence in South Yorkshire Police than a year ago, a survey found.

All recipients of SYP Alerts were asked about their faith in the force as part of a national questionnaire.

The survey found 67.5 per cent in this region felt more confident in the police — the highest increase in the country.

Supt Simon Wanless, force lead for community engagement, said: “This is a positive result for South Yorkshire Police and we are grateful to all of our residents who kindly participated in the national survey.

“The fact that we have the highest increase in confidence of all the forces who currently use community alerts is a real achievement.”

The alerts were launched to complement the force’s return to a neighbourhood policing model a couple of years ago and are available in more than 100 languages.
