How you can take part in Mexborough's two-day community clean-up

Mexborough Neighbourhood Network is leading the spring cleaning surge tomorrow and Saturday, and three skips will be available on each day.

SKIPS will be sited around Mexborough tomorrow to encourage residents to back a community clean-up.

The Community Skips will be located in the following locations on Friday - Mexborough Library, Highwoods Road,\!Northgate and Schofield Street - and these spots on Saturday - Albert Road, Mexborough Library Car Park, Derwent Road/Hirstgate.

    The skips can be used for rubbish and unwanted items from homes or gardens but tyres, fridges and asbestos will not be accepted.

    Litter-picking equipment, black bags, gloves and hi-vis vests will be provided. 

    A safety briefing at Mexborough Athletic Club at 9am tomorrow will kick off the clean-up, which will run until 5pm, with Saturday’s efforts running from 10am to 3pm.

    Cllr Sean Gibbons said several volunteers had come forward to help with litter picks but more were needed.

    Mexborough Ferryboat Association is also running its own clean-up operation between 11am and 2pm on Saturday, with volunteers asked to meet at the bottom of Ferryboat Lane.

    Further clean-up days are also planned for later on in the year.
