The Rotherham NHS Superheroes campaign is raising money to fund staff care packages, refreshments and treats during busy shifts, as well as hotel accommodation and access to health and wellbeing initiatives to boost morale.

The campaign has been launched by the Rotherham Hospital and Community Charity, and more than £650 has been donated online.

Martin Havenhand, chairman of the Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust, said colleagues in the community and at Rotherham Hospital were working around the clock to deal with the immense pressures the NHS is currently facing due to Covid-19.

“Everyone from doctors and nurses on the frontline, to porters, cleaners, support and administration staff are showing such initiative and determination to get us through this difficult period - we’re incredibly proud of our workforce, which we value greatly,”added Mr Havenhand.

“We have been humbled with many requests to support our colleagues - we know you are as proud of them as we are.

“Launching the Rotherham NHS Superheroes campaign will hopefully inspire people to continue to support them in whatever way they can.”

The trust has also compiled a ‘wishlist’ of items currently needed, including iPads so staff and patients can keep in contact with their loved ones via video messaging, hand sanitiser and hand cream, cordial, food, overnight toiletry packs, protective equipment (particularly long-sleeved aprons) and children’s activity books.

If you would like to bring a donation to the Moorgate Road hospital, call Suzanne Rutter, charity engagement and development manager, on 01709 426821 or email [email protected].

The hospital charity will arrange a safe drop-off point and ensure donations are distributed fairly across teams in the community and at the hospital.
