THE number of coronavirus inpatients at Rotherham Hospital continues to fall this week.
As of Wednesday, a spokesperson for the NHS Foundation Trust, said the hospital was treating 72 inpatients, down four from last week, eight of whom were in critical care.
Of the current inpatients, 55 are aged 60 or over.
Within the last week, 15 patients who tested positive for the virus have died.
The spokesperson added: “So far, we have treated 2,269 patients who have tested positive for the virus since the start of the pandemic, have safely discharged 1,576 patients and 542 have died after testing positive for Covid-19.
“We offer our thoughts and condolences to their families and loved ones.”
Rotherham’s infection rate has dropped a further two per cent in the past week, with a figure of 220 per 100,000 people.
