A TEENAGER who suffered serious injuries after the car he was travelling in hit a telegraph pole has died in hospital.
The 18-year-old—who has not yet been named—suffered head, spine and lung injuries in the smash, which happened on the A6021 Wickersley Road.
Two other teenagers were also hurt in the crash, which happened when their blue Audi A3 left the road as they travelled from Brecks towards the Stag roundabout.
Police said the car appeared to lose control on a right-hand bend near the junction with Bentfield Avenue.
The car collided with a telegraph pole, coming to rest on its roof on top of a boundary stone wall just before 11.30pm on April 6.
The 18-year-old, from Rotherham, died on Thursday at Rotherham Hospital. The Audi driver, aged 19, and another passenger, 15, both from Broom, sustained minor head injuries.
Anyone who witnessed the crash or saw the vehicle just before the collision should call South Yorkshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 1260 of Friday, April 6.
