Holland and Barrett set for Parkgate switch

HEALTH food chain Holland and Barrett has become the latest high street name to confirm it is closing its town centre branch in favour of a move to Parkgate.

The vitamins, supplements and healthy snacks company said it would shut its store at Rotherham Interchange on May 9.

A new branch at Parkgate Shopping will open the following day in the former Brantano premises, which will be shared with Shoe Zone.

Discount clothes brand Primark revealed last month that it was moving from High Street to bigger premises in the former BhS unit at Parkgate, which is currently being fitted out for the new arrival.

A spokeswoman for Holland and Barrett said: “We’re constantly changing our stores to offer the most exciting and useful shopping experience to our customers.

“Many of our stores include innovations like vegan nail bars, on-the-go protein shake stations and fruit and nut pick n mix stations.

“Because of this, we have to keep searching for larger premises to house the shopping experiences our customers are asking for.

“We are committed to supporting the local Rotherham economy, and look forward to sharing exciting new developments with our customers there.”
