Herringthorpe bargain prom "sale" raises £550 for Teenage Cancer Trust

Andrea Jenkinson organised the special event at St Bernard’s RC High School after finding some of her daughters’ old dresses in the loft and enlisting other parents to help gather gowns to pass on to this year’s prom kings and queens.

A POP-UP prom dress giveaway helped 40 students find fancy outfits and raised a bumper sum for charity.

The dresses were all free but “buyers” were encouraged to make a donation to the Teenage Cancer Trust, as did prom-focused businesses.

The event raised £550 for the charity.

Andrea said there was still time for students to grab a bargain, adding: “Our plan is to travel around schools with the dresses.

“The feedback so far has been overwhelming - one mum said the event was so welcoming and the dresses were amazing and she couldn’t believe the quality that was on offer.”
