Help us create a photographic history of Rotherham

EVERYONE enjoys looking at old photographs — they create memories and laughter and bring people together.

We at the Rotherham Advertiser have been contacted by a lot of people about creating an archive and, as a result, are set to introduce an evolving online archive/gallery of your old pictures and memories.

The idea came about when deputy news editor Adele Forrest discovered this picture of two Rotherham punks in the 1970s.

We thought about the possibility of holding an exhibition in Rotherham, but at the moment that is not practical.

We can, however, put your pictures online and create a photographic history that Rotherham people can access and which will provoke memories and recollections of people, events, places, old shops, schools and places of work that they can share.

Prizes will also be given for the best ones we receive before the end of June.

Send your pictures using the form below, or by post to Andrew Mosley, Rotherham Advertiser, 2a Upper Millgate, Rotherham, S60 1PF.

And if you are one of the two punks pictured here, we would love to hear from you!

Fill out my online form.
