Healthy pledge takeaway would be too close to college

A “HEALTHY” takeaway was refused planning permission for being too close to a college.

Amo’s Street Food pledged to work on tackling obesity if allowed to open in the former Ramsdens shop near Effingham Square.

But the venture has fallen foul of RMBC’s ban on hot food outlets within 800 metres of education sites, being too near Rotherham College.

An RMBC spokesperson added: “The council considers that due to lack of a noise impact assessment, the potential for nuisance to be caused to the occupiers of nearby residential and commercial premises cannot be assessed.”

Ironically, the takeaways rule was brought in to tackle obesity after KFC opened next door to Canklow Woods Primary School.
