Healey aiming to get off to a flier

Villagers have received a double-barrelled salvo from John Healey as he tries to maintain his huge majority.

JOHN Healey may be 500/1 on to retain his Wentworth and Dearne seat but the housing minister (and pubs minister!) is not taking anything for granted.

In the battle of the leaflets, the Labour candidate's certainly ahead in Harley, the little village just a stone’s throw from Wentworth itself.

While Tory candidate Michelle Donelan’s fliers are conspicious by their absence (although she’s making up for it with some larger-than-life hoardings around Wentworth) and both UKIP and the Lib Dems have made a single letter-drop, Mr Healey has doubled up.

One of the glossy adverts, for want of a better word, is a multi-page special listing all his achievements and showing him in several different constituency scenes—wearing a red tie in each.

With a 15,056 majority and a 59 per cent share of the vote last time around, Mr Healey would seem to have quite a cushion to fall back on but he’s hardly resting on his laurels.
