Head injury killed man in girder tragedy

A POST-mortem examination has revealed that Rotherham company director Anthony Baines died of a serious head injury after being struck with a metal girder as it was unloaded from the back of a lorry.

A POST-mortem has revealed that Rotherham company director Anthony Baines died of a serious head injury after being struck with a metal girder as it was unloaded from the back of a lorry.

The incident happened at around 10am on Wednesday, in Balm Green, Sheffield city centre.

A joint enquiry with South Yorkshire Police and the Health and Safety Executive is ongoing.

Mr Baines lived in Mangham Road, Rotherham. His wife Carol is the landlady of the Fitzwilliam Arms Hotel in Parkgate.
